Welcome to The 40 ("we," "our," or "us"), operated by Slants, Inc.We are committed to protecting the privacy of athletes, coaches, parents, and all users of our platform. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information — including profile data, performance metrics, and video content — when you visit our website, use our mobile applications, or utilize our athletic performance analysis tools.

By accessing or using The 40, you agree to the collection, processing, and display of information in accordance with this policy. If you do not agree with this policy, please do not access our platform.

2. Information We Collect

A. Information You Provide Directly

  • Account Information: Name, email address, username, password, and account role (athlete, coach, parent/guardian, recruiter).
  • Athlete Profile Data: Name, position, school/organization, graduating year, GPA, physical attributes (height, weight), and links to external media (e.g., Hudl highlight videos).
  • Performance Metrics: Results from standardized drills, such as 40-yard dash times, top speed, broad jump, shuttle times, and related athletic tracking data.
  • Communications: Messages you send us, including support emails and requests submitted through the platform.

B. Video Content and Camera/Microphone Data

  • User-Uploaded & Captured Video:Video recordings of athletic performance submitted by users or captured directly through our app's camera interface (e.g., recordings of athletes running sprints or performing drills).
  • Device Permissions:With your explicit permission, our mobile application may access your device's camera and photo library to record or upload video clips, and microphone (where audio capture is necessary during video recording).

C. Computer Vision & Automated Video Processing

  • We process video content using computer-vision technology to extract performance data (e.g., calculating dash times, biomechanical movement, and peak velocity).
  • Note on Biometric Data: Video analysis is strictly utilized to extract telemetry, movement metrics, and timing performance. We do not use video footage to generate facial recognition templates, biometric identity profiles, or unique identifiers for individual identification across third-party systems.

D. Information Collected Automatically

  • Log Data: IP address, operating system, browser type, pages viewed, timestamps, and crash logs.
  • Device Identifiers: Hardware model, unique device identifiers, and operating system details.
  • Cookies and Analytics: Session cookies to maintain authentication and Google Analytics to collect aggregate usage trends (see Section 7).

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the collected information to:

  • Deliver Core Services: Create accounts, process video recordings, calculate performance telemetry, and generate athlete profiles.
  • Display Leaderboards and Rankings: Highlight athlete performance metrics, video clips, and standardized test results on platform leaderboards, public/authorized rankings, and athlete profile pages.
  • Facilitate Scouting & Recruitment: Display verified metrics and video footage to registered coaches, scouts, and recruiters using our platform.
  • Service Improvement: Refine and optimize our computer-vision models, performance tracking algorithms, and app stability using anonymized or aggregated video and telemetry data.
  • Communication & Security: Respond to inquiries, send account notifications, detect and prevent fraud, and enforce compliance with our Terms of Service.
  • Legal Compliance: Comply with applicable legal obligations and enforce our agreements.

4. Public Visibility and Sharing Your Information

Core Purpose:The 40 is a sports performance and recruiting platform. Visibility of athlete performance — including leaderboards, metrics, profile details, and video recordings — is central to the operation of the platform.

A. Visibility on The 40 Platform

  • Athlete Profiles & Leaderboards: Information including athlete name, position, school, graduating year, performance metrics (e.g., 40-yard dash times), video recordings, and associated highlight links may be displayed on public or restricted leaderboards and profile pages accessible to registered coaches, recruiters, and platform users.

B. Sharing with Third Parties

We do not sell personal data or video footage to third parties. We share information only with:

  • Service Providers: Trusted vendors who assist with cloud hosting, video infrastructure, analytical processing, and customer support, subject to strict data protection obligations.
  • Legal & Regulatory Obligations: When required by law, court order, or governmental regulation, or to protect the safety, rights, or property of Slants, Inc., our users, or the public.
  • Corporate Transfers: In connection with a merger, acquisition, reorganization, or sale of assets.

5. Children's Privacy and Minor Protection

The 40 is designed for high school and collegiate athletes, many of whom are under 18 years of age. The platform is not directed to, and may not be used by, children under 13.

A. High School Athletes (Ages 13–17)

  • Minors aged 13 to 17 may create accounts and submit performance metrics and videos. We strongly encourage parents and guardians to monitor their children's online activities, review their profile data, and discuss privacy preferences regarding public leaderboard visibility.

B. Children Under 13 (COPPA Compliance)

  • The Services are not intended for children under 13. Consistent with our Terms of Service, children under 13 are prohibited from creating accounts, and we do not knowingly collect personal information, video footage, or profile data from them.
  • If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under 13, we will delete that information and terminate the associated account promptly.
  • If you believe a child under 13 has provided personal data to us, please contact us immediately at contact@slants.ai, and we will promptly delete the data and associated account.

C. Parental Rights

Parents or legal guardians of minor athletes may at any time request to:

  • Review the personal data, videos, and metrics collected from their child.
  • Request the removal of their child's profile or videos from public leaderboards.
  • Delete the child's account and associated video/metric history.

6. Data Storage, Retention, and Deletion

  • Retention Period: We retain personal profile data, metrics, and video files for as long as the user account remains active, or as required to fulfill the operational purposes outlined in this policy.
  • Account & Video Deletion: You may request the deletion of your account, profile data, or specific video uploads at any time by contacting us at contact@slants.ai. We will process deletion requests within 30 days, purging active database records and removing associated videos from public view, subject to any legally mandated retention obligations.

7. Cookies and Analytics

Essential Cookies

Session cookies required to maintain authentication, secure user sessions, and store basic user preferences. You can disable cookies in your browser settings, but doing so may prevent certain features from functioning properly.

Analytics Cookies

We use Google Analytics, a web analytics service provided by Google LLC, to analyze platform traffic and user engagement.   • Correct inaccurate or incomplete profile information.
  • Restrict or object to certain data processing (including removal from leaderboards).
  • Request full deletion of your personal data and uploaded content.
  • Withdraw consent at any time where processing is based on consent.
